Great variety of equipment. Locker room is nice. I would like to see more attention on the cleanliness of the weight room as it pertains to used towels lying on the floor or hanging over the equipment.
I was a previous member a couple years ago - I was satisfied with the gym in Columbia, MD at that time, and so I wanted to sign up again along with two of my family members.
I inquired about the next free enrollment promotional period since paying an "enrollment fee" is never a sensible idea, no matter what gym. Especially if that enrollment fee is close to 120 to 270 dollars per person! I also know that Lifetime has had multiple free enrollment periods in the past. When I asked about this, I got this generic answer from Devin after going back and forth:
I'm probably overreacting about saving a couple hundred dollars, but that doesn't change the fact that I was misled. I'm not sure if customer service is supposed to beguile those who ask about such deals.... If he at least had some courtesy to tell me about it, we would have signed up. You just lost three customers for a lifetime (pun intended).
I also had no issues canceling my membership. I walked into the gym during normal hours and I was out of there maybe ten minutes later. The gentleman who helped me was kind and closed everything quickly.
I recently became a member at life time like a month ago. The gym is nice overall, but some of there staff members have no manners how to talk. They are very rude. They been charging my card for extra charges, now this happened twice. They DONT KNOW WHAT they are doing. I am already paying huge amount for this gym and on top it “unnecessary charges”!! I would recommend people going to cheaper places rather then spending huge amount of money at this place. I was a member at LA fitness and they treat their members like there own family members. And not ridiculously expensive like life time.
"Yes, there have been times in the past that we have waived the initial investment. With that said, it is very rare when we did and is becoming even rarer now days. With the improvements to our member’s experience in the combination of amenities, services and atmosphere – the initial investment is becoming more necessary."
The gym itself is very nice and I never had any problems with the amenities, classes, equipment, etc. This place will awe you when you first step in the door because there's so much to offer.
I emailed Devin back, seeing that I had asked him about this very promotion just two weeks before! He made a snide remark saying that while everyone had their enrollment fees waived during those days, we couldn't be offered this promotional deal since the two days had passed... EVEN THOUGH I had asked him specifically about it just two weeks before.
The main issue I had with this gym is the fact it was incredibly BUSY, particularly in the weights/machines section. Cardio machines were always open. It was very hard to get a good muscle workout between 4 and 8 p.m.
After driving an hour to work out, I find the gym closed. I had made SURE to check the hours, it being a holiday. This is very poor business to change hours and not post it on website. And of course you cant get anybody on the phone. I wasted 2 hours of my day, and so did several other people that I saw. Correct business hours being posted are important. Specially to people like me who come from so far!
This statement is utter nonsense. And what do you know... just 2 weeks later, they had a free enrollment period (September 1st and 2nd) which I had found out from a co-worker of mine just after the free enrollment period ended.
